Ali Wong, famous Asian American actress and stand up comedian, recently released her debut book, Dear Girls, a collection of essays portraying different aspects of her life. This hilarious and vulnerable book follows years of hard work and her break out Netflix specials Baby Cobra (2016), Hard Knock Wife (2018), and her latest romantic comedy Always Be My Maybe (2019). Though the writing appears light hearted, her letters cover important topics such as her strained relationship with her mother, her sexual adventures, the impact of her father’s death, becoming a mother and wife, her struggles to get to where she is in her career, and more. This book gives an honestly displays the life of an Asian American woman and the struggles that comes with that beautiful title.
